Auto Expo Showcase 2020

Jio had showcased its end-to-end capability to enable a connected car ecosystem at the Auto Expo that was held in Greater Noida in February 2020. The aim was to bring smart driving experiences to the Indian market by providing the necessary hardware and software. Along with the app, we also had the opportunity to design everything from the stall graphics to marketing collateral in order to attract customers as well as potential leads from automobile brands.

Final Stall Design

The stall layout was made by professional vendors. Post our discussions with the experts we came up with the idea of having our Jio colours with minimal content and an ‘Experience Zone’ for the JioMotive app as the app design language was different from the bright Jio colours

Brand Integration - MySkoda Connect & My Volkswagen Connect

The Auto Expo lead to a couple of brand integrations with JioMotive being a white-label app designed as per other brand guidelines. Worked closely with the Skoda and Volkswagen team in Europe to get the brand design guidelines for both and integrate the JioMotive design accordingly.

App integration - JioThings

JioThings is a Gateway to connected ‘Everything’, a comprehensive B2C app you can use to get connected to all your GPS/Bluetooth enabled Jio devices. It helps you stay connected with your family, friends, pets, vehicles and belongings.

JioMotive was redesigned to be a part of the JioThings app as part of the IoT super-app, in order to keep track of the vehicle dongle, health and data through the app.

Challenges faced in the project

• Certain parameters that couldn’t be displayed on the app because of inaccurate reading from the device
• Couldn’t change the UI because of the rigorous development process and lack of resource availability as there were two high priority brand integrations lined up

What can be improved

• Device On-boarding process on the app can be more intuitive
• UI Design style can be improved according to current or upcoming design trends

What’s next

• More features like Remote Door Lock/Unlock, Engine start/stop, AC Control
• Continued brand integrations with features pertaining to those particular brands
